Q1. How do I change my settings?
All your settings (must be registered) are stored in the database. To change them, click the Profile link shown at the top of the page. This will allow you to change all your settings.

Q2. The time is wrong!!
The time is set to the server time so its timezone may be different from where you are. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the timezone to match your particular area. Must be registered and logged in to change timezones!!

Q3. I changed the timezone and the time is still wrong!
If you are sure that you have set the timezone correctly and the time is still different, the most likely answer is daylight savings time. Therefore, the time may be an hour different from the real local time.

Q4. My language is not in the list!
The most likely reasons for these are either the administrator did not install your language package or someone has not translated this board into your language. Try asking the board administrator if they can install the language pack you need or if it does not exist, please feel free to create a new translation for SMF, which can be visited here: Simple Machines Forum

Q5. How do I show an image below my username?
There may be two images below a username when viewing posts. The first is an image associated with your rank: generally these take the form of stars or blocks indicating how many posts you have made or your status on the forums. Below this may be a larger image known as an avatar: this is unique or personal to each user.

Q6. What are the restrictions on my avatar?
Your avatar image's width must not be larger than 150px wide and must not be pornography or any other obscene type images. Please keep it clean. Max filesize of your avatar to be 200kb or lower.

Q7. How do I change my rank?
In general, you cannot directly change the wording of your rank which appear below your username in topics and on your profile depending on the theme used. Most boards use ranks to indicate the number of posts you have made and to identify certain users. For example, moderators and administrators may have a special rank. DO NOT abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank. The moderator or administrator will lower your post count or else ban you completely from the site. Heed the warning!!

Q8. When I click the email link for a user it asks me to log in.
Only registered users can send email to people. This is to prevent malicious use of the email system by anonymous users and banning spammers.
